The Confederation of Arctic Nations

With the continued progression of global warming, a whole new world of opportunity opened up in the Arctic region with untapped resources suddenly available for extraction. This led to a economic and population boom for Arctic Canada. Inspired by the successful independence movement in Quebec a decade prior, the various First Nations and European residence of Northern Canada began demanding independence. The Canadian government then brokered deals creating the autonomous regions of Nunavut, Ungava, and Sahtu hoping to quell the cries for independence. But unfortunately for Canada, their newfound wealth and American interests lead to the succession of what was traditionally known as Northern Canada and forming the Confederacy of the Arctic in 2035. The confederacy would later collapse back into Canada with the process of refreezing the polar icecaps in the late 21st century to reverse the effects of the sea level rise seen in the 2020s.
